Recreation and Culture - Olathe is located in Johnson County which boasts more than 4,600 acres of park land and an innovative Streamway Parks System. There are also several public and private golf courses for residents to utilize. The Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs are main attractions drawing crowds from several neighboring states.
There is an abundance of festivals around the area including the Renaissance Festival, Spirit Festival, Hidden Glen Arts Festival held annually in Cedar Creek, Plaza Arts Festival and many more.The Kansas City Zoo, several outdoor theaters, theme parks and lakes round out the myriad of recreational opportunities in the area.
Cultural activities are very much in evidence in the Kansas city area. Residents can choose from the nationally recognized blues and jazz clubs, to the Kansas City Symphony, the Lyric Opera, The Kansas City Museum and Science City and the State Ballet of Missouri. The Nelson Art Gallery is ranked in the top 15 general art museums in America.
